Casa Esperanza Update April 8, 2008
The last few weeks in Casa Esperanza have been full of adventure, times of growth and new challenges.
First off, the children have begun taking turns leading the Saturday evening services in their church. Every 6 weeks one of our kids preach, while the others dance, sing songs, lead worship, and usher. The children have really stepped up to this challenge and have done an amazing job the 2 weeks that they have led so far. The last Saturday that they took over, Jessica preached for 45 minutes (for the very FIRST time) and all of the other children danced, led worship and sang solos in front of the congregation. All of the children did a truly amazing job and we were all so proud of each and every one of them. Jessica’s sermon was inspirational and impacted us all, making us all so proud of the very Christ-like woman that she has become.
Two weeks ago we also welcomed two new children into our ever-growing home: 3 and 4 yr. old Jose and Johanna are brother and sister and came to us from an orphanage in Guatemala City. Originally the pair were placed there because of the mental instability of their mother. Due to her continued failing mental health they are not able to return to their family. Jose and Johanna were both very uncertain of the Children’s home upon their arrival; however they have since adjusted very well and are now normal preschoolers; laughing and playing with the other children. Jose is a very healthy little 4 yr.old; however his sister Johanna is completely blind in one eye and we are told is going blind in her other eye. We thank God for bringing them to us, and ask for your prayers for Johanna. As we have seen many times before, our God is truly a healing God and performs great miracles everyday!
